Our employees rally around fundraising efforts and community projects

Supporting the Dragon Boat Foundation

We’ve strived to maintain our original family values, even as we’ve grown. We believe it’s important to show appreciation for our employees’ contributions, and to give back to the community where we live and work.

We think that’s a testament to the kind of workplace we’ve created. We know that our employees are our most important assets – and we treat them that way.

Giving back to the community

Employees rally around two major fundraising efforts each year – the Christmas Exchange and the Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation – but also support other worthy causes and events.

We’ve participated in the building of two new post-secondary trade schools in Ottawa: La Cite Collegiale in the east end, and the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence in the west end. We realize that these schools represent the future of our employee base and we’ve contributed both financially, and with our time and expertise.

Celebrating our successes and having fun

We believe in taking time to have fun and celebrate our successes, and we organize several large events each year for just this reason – the Safety Barbecue, the Company Picnic, the Kids’ Christmas Party and the Christmas Breakfast.

We also participate in community-based events that bring employees together to have fun – we regularly enter teams in the Annual Stantec Hockey Tournament and the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival.

Valuing employee contributions

We’ve embraced a management philosophy called LEAN, which aims to reduce waste in a business but ensures that employees make the decisions that will affect them and their work area.

We regularly nominate our employees for industry Safety and Customer Service Awards, and we are proud to say that many of them have won.
